Air Compressor piston ring help?
I have an old 90 gallon craftsman oil less 2 cyl air compressor that no longer builds pressure. I can find the piston ring for the wafer piston that fits between the wafer and the connecting rod. The other cylinder has an actual piston with a ring groove.
From my research it seems this model may have been recalled years ago and the piston ring in discontinued. This has been a great compressor that I painted my 71 Vette with as well as did all my car maintenance for years. The motor still runs good so I do not want to replace it unless I have to.
The pump is a Devilbis and I think the piston ring is called a “scarf ring”? Any ideas who I could contact to see if something could be made to work? I’ve been told a hydraulic shop.
Any good tool forums I could post this question on?
Here are some pics.
Thanks!

Check that the valve is seating, it may be the issue.

Just any sealing ring just isn't going to do; as with the oil-less pumps great effort is made in the compatibility of metallurgy between the rubbing surfaces to avoid excessive familiarization in service; this often incorporating dry lubricants, such as graphite impregnation. But in my experience realize that "oil-less" pumps just are not going to last as long as those pumping/splashing a liquid lubricant.
If all else is good, I feel that perhaps one might look into just replacing the pump on the other existing componentry.
Scott.
