Long shot guess here. It looks like a capacitor and it was perhaps across the terminals of the flasher unit to alter the timing of the flasher? That or... its part of the hyper drive and without it you wont make the jump to hyper space.

that makes sense and having said that, after pulling the relay I was checking the power and there is none at the terminal but the turn signals work but when I pull the hazards they don’t work. Any ideas? Where does the capacitor plug into

I found a PDF of the wiring diagram for this car and as it happens, has 3 flashers. one for hazard, one for directional and one for anti-theft. So the hazard flasher is in the fuse block where the other 2 are somewhere else in the car.
