Default Rotor Removal Help

Alright so I’ve done the thing. I’ve drilled and punched the rivets so they’re no factor anymore. But 42 years of rust is an absolute factor now that it’s holding onto the rotor. What’s the best way to pull the rotor off without damaging it?

The rotor and wheel bearings are in good shape so I don’t want to go crazy town with a hammer. I’ve sprayed PB blaster where I can and scraped away at any visible rust to help.

Socket wrenches are there just to get better leverage on the whole rotor.

I'm assuming it spins, but did you back off the parking brake all the way? Including the adjustment star wheel inside the drum?

Your emergency brake drum may have a ridge on it, which the brake shoe may be hanging up on. Try backing off the star adjuster for the E-brake to relax the brake shoes inward.
You beat me to it!

The rotor on my 68 wouldn't budge. Parking brake adjuster was rusted into one piece. PB blaster, heat, hammer, cussing and a few hours and it came off. Banged the front face of the rotor and the back. Clearing the parking brake was my issue once the rust issue was gone.

Mission success!

I used the caliper mounts to thread a bolt to push on the rotor. After a couple of rotations the rotor broke loose. Parking brake was no help because that was rusted solid - that's getting ripped out and replaced today.

Appreciate the help!

Check to make sure you didn't warp the caliper mount bracket. When you re-install a caliper, make sure the rotor is centered between the piston faces......something you perhaps would do anyhow.
