If you have slop, it could be pin and bushing replacement, you just need to take a good look at the bushings to see how worn they are. Dorman makes a pin and bushing kit that's pretty inexpensive. I have them sitting in my toolbox, but have yet to install them.
That could be the rear striker bolt issue. If it drops just a fraction, the door drops with it.
First thing to do is to outline the striker with a fine point Sharpie. Then you have an original reference mark.
To make any adjustments to the striker, up / down or in / out you will need a allen socket for a 1/2 inch drive ratchet. (maybe NAPA)
Use caution in adjustments. Raising the striker may cause the top of the window to rub the T-Top.
I replaced my hinge bushings on my driver's door. Even posted up a how to thread on here with complete instructions and photos. Depending on how much wear your bushings have. This may or may not completely solve the issue. But when changing bushings you will need to unbolt the hinge from the door, so you'll need to align it anyway. Adjustment of the striker is also highly likely. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-a-how-to.html
I can lift the door slightly up, as simple as hinge pin replacement?
With the slop in your door, if you were to lift it would that pretty much solve the alignment in the pic?
C3 doors are long and heavy. Worn pins and bushings are very common. Test the hinge pin/bushings by opening the door a foot, 2 feet, wide open. If you feel up and down movement greater than about 1/8", I'd change out the pins & bushings. It's probably the top hinge but doing both would be good. I don't recall removing the hinges from my driver door to do the swap...
Thanks all for your advice, I dealt with the door striker, maneuvered it around to find the correct alignment and the door closes with the proper alignment.
