Default 1972 corvette LT1 cam/ ceramic headers

Hello all/ hope everybody is ready for the holidays. I need to replace the cam in my lt1. Can somebody recommend a grind that closely resembles the oem grind. I want it to run and perform as close to factory specs please. Headers… long tubes for sure. What size primary pipes would work best for the lt1 motor. Thanks for any helpful info.

I’m assuming that’s the factory spec for cam grind for lt1 ??

Yes...for a solid lifter flat tappet...as original

But if I were going custom...I think I would look for a similar grind and go with a roller cam instead...
Jebby could possibly point you in the right direction for a good, modified setup...

Standard long tube 1 5/8" headers with 3" collector......I like the Hedman ceramic coated units.....there are many others so check reviews on fit and finish......
If running into a stock exhaust system remember that the outlet of the muffler is only 2" and should be addressed for max flow.....

Why do you need a new cam?

I also was leaning towards headman headers. I forgot to calculate my cam lift with my rocker ratio/1.5. Cam lobe lift on passenger side (drivers side head still was on to calculate rocker ratio and valve movement) was an average of .308. X 1.5 gives me a lift total .462. I think that’s close to stock?? Be easy on me I’m a rookie. lol. Learning as I go.

The muffler should be replaced with a 2.5" outlet for max flow......
You numbers are very close to stock LT-1......look at the cam chart above, it gives the cam lift at the rocker.....

Does anybody know what the direct replacement valve springs for my LT1 would be. I have the heads off and want to freshen up the springs. From what I've read they need to bee in the 375 psi range??
Gonna change out valves also, any info on them would be great also.

Thanks and happy Holidays

375 is too heavy....
The direct replacement is the Elgin "Z/28" spring.....Summit sells them under their brand as a kit with springs, locks, retainers...seals....
If the heads are apart have them machined for Viton valve seals...
