Header redo suggestion
If I am a day late and a dollar short on this I apologize.
I was dreading removing the stock headers on my 454 when I found this suggestion. The rusty old headers just looked horrible and have been a thorn in my side.
"Blaster" graphite dry lubricant is a great way to renew your headers w/o removing them. Simply brush off the loose rust then spray and wipe the stuff on. Be careful spraying as it tends to get everywhere, but can be wiped off.
You can also spray it onto a sponge or rag and wipe it.
When you run the motor, the heat will initially burn off the oil, but the graphite, being carbon and heat proof, gets impregnated into the rust and looks pretty nice.
I am told it doesn't stay on forever, but it sure is easier than pulling and redoing the headers. I will do this when I clean the car.
