Anyone happen to have a source for a rubber stamp with the 3/8" tall helvetica font letters CT on it to restamp the broadcast code letters on an alternator that I have? I've been looking on-line for rubber stamps but cannot seem to locate what I'm looking for, specifically 3/8" tall capital helvetica letters. If you have a rubber stamp I can borrow or rent, please shoot me a PM. Alternator is being rebuilt and restored and I do not know of any good way to save the broadcast code letters on the alternator now. Also thought it would look odd to have a newly refreshed and restored alternator with the old CT stamp letters on it? Thought it would be easiers to rebuild and restore the alternator and then just restamp the CT broadcast code letters.
Go to Staples, Office Depot, etc. with a sample of what you want the finished stamp to look like and they'll make you one. Measure the dimensions and bring your photo to help with the font.
I was able to work with someone (Jen) at Rubber Stamps.com and I think we have it dialed in. We'll see once it arrives. There is a Staples not too far from us if Rubber Stamp.com does not come through. It's good to have options.
Happy holidays to you and your family. Thanks for all your help in 2023.
Hey Joe,
I was going to use a local guy who has been restoring alternators for about 50-60 years. I visited his shop, we chatted for about an hour, he must have had 100 alternators hanging on racks, sorted, and organized for all kinds of makes and models. Seemed very busy, which I think is a good sign. He does complete rebuilds and testing but does not do stamps.
Ken would be a good option too, thanks for adding that to consider.
Hey Stan,
It just arrived. I still can't believe it. Never ever thought I would find an OEM 1100 825. The date stamp is after my build date October 31, 1968 but I am really happy and this will work for now or until lightning strikes a second time and I find one inside my target date range 8EXX to 8JXX.

A Real very nice find. If your rubber stamp looks good don't worry about it. You could also just find the same font and size from microsoft word, print it out, cut out the letters and spray it.
Make sure your rebuilder does Not blast your case/stamp or spray paint your case. Some experts call it "re-skin": You may want to clean the case yourself with raw aluminum mag wheel cleaner or get it blasted with dry ice or baking soda.
In addition, an alternator rebuild is one of the easiest DIY projects you can do. Costs about 40. and the hardest thing is to press in the bearing cup the rest just R&R.

good idea..nice lettering!
i found a brass brush and solvent on drill cleans case well without damaging anything, and this paint comes close to matching.

Good morning interpon,
This car will eventually go to NCRS judging so I'll need to be careful about finish. I'll probably just clean it up and leave the outer case natural cast aluminum. I have used high temp matt clear on some parts like my lower spare tire tub just to protect the finish.I'll have to think more about whether I would do that on this alternator. I'm leaning toward leaving it natural with no coating after soda blasting.
I always appreciate your comments and suggestions. Thank you.
Good morning CF,
If you have not already checked out Broachbuster.com site you should take a minute to take a peek. What a great site bbvette427 shared. Easy to get into trouble. The owner (Jeff) has stamps for all kinds of Corvette parts, including alternators. It's worth a look. I bought the CT alternator broadcast code stamp. It was in-stock and it is exactly the right size, right font type. Shipped the same day I ordered it. Wow!
Thanks bbvette427 for the suggestion. This will be one of those sites I bookmark and use again.
