Years ago I had a customer in Delaware who had a 77 with with a 78-82 rear clip and 78 Anniversary emblems. The person he bought it from told him it was a rare, late build 77 that came with 78 emblems and the big rear window. Of course, this was not possible and a quick look under the carpet revealed a seam through the floor where the 80 (according to the date on the rear glass) clip had been attached to the 77 front. I assume the person he bought it from bought it not realizing it was a "FrankenVette" built from a could different cars, and when he did find out he came up with the "rare, late build" 77 story to palm it off on some other uneducated Corvette buyer.
I don't know if this is the same 77 the OP is looking at, but it is an example of the strange things that happen to old Corvettes and that I know at least one 77 with 78 Anniversary emblems on it, even though it shouldn't.
