The chrome sheet metal screws you removed are important. Unfortunately on my 73 some one, probably named Bubba, used the wrong screw, and after replacing the weatherstripping it took me about ten seconds to put a 4 inch crack in my windshield. Obviously, the person who worked on/around the windshield, didn’t use the correct length screw(s). I was lucky as my aftermarket windshield was ready to be replaced anyway. If you aren’t 1000% Positive your screws are the right length, it may be worthwhile to order new ones from one of the Corvette Vendors. Don’t ask me the screw size/length for a 74 Coupe, maybe it’s in the AIM.
