Hey man, were did you end up on this? I purchased a 71 and it has vintage air and a really bad looking modern looking radio. I wonder if they did it because of space also. I want to replace it with a correct period looking one but want the modern features also including an amp output.

Do you still have the original AM/FM stereo radio with the convector that won't fit because of Vintage Air? If yes then go here
Yeah I just put the ebay link up to show what your radio would have looked like if your previous owner had not done away with it. The radio itself will go in even with the Vintage Air. It is tight but I got it in there on my '73. It's those convector thing(s) that won't fit with all that VA duct work. If you go with the aurora-tech you don't need the convector. You keep your original radio, they just pull the old guts from the inside and replace them with a small printed circuit board. Plus there are options for BT, USB, etc. Don't know about amp output.
