How do I get these rubber plugs out of the back of the deck. The carpet came out over the plugs. Tried pulling them out and it really stretches and I didn't want to break them. Any hints??

Mine has large head plastic darts in this location. Those look like grommets. Which I don't believe to be correct anyway.
Rip em out. Get the correct large head plastic darts. There not expensive.

They were really a one-shot deal. About the only way to get them out without ruining them is to do it from the other side and that's really hard to access. They aren't all that expensive and aren't a "corvette" specific thing. You should be able to get them at NAPA or somewhere along those lines. They do come in different lengths / diameters so try to measure what you have.
There are also a bunch up at the front of the front carpet as well

No no. You can absolutely get them out cleanly. You need a rod without a point on the end. Like a pushrod. Push it in the hole while grabbing the outside edge to pull on. It will stretch longer and thinner by the rod and the diameter will become small enough to pull out. I wish I could remember what I used.

A drift punch that has a flat nose will work, but I just bought a complete set (front & back) when I replaced the carpet. Also on my 73 there were holes under the seats that needed plugs, of course they were MIA, like so many things on my car.
