Question. I am replacing the weatherstrip rubber piece that goes all the way around the door. I am aware there are various screws at each end of the rubber piece but are there any clips holding it in place at other places? It looks like once the screws are removed at each end, it's a matter of just scraping it off. After I fasten the screws on each end, I was just going to use painter's tape to hold it in place until I get the molding cement behind it. 1980 L-48. Thanks!
Put your 3M Super weatherstrip adhesive on the door where the weatherstrip sits. And put your adhesive on the weatherstrip. Give it about 5 minutes to tack up. Start on one end and install basically walking it around to the other end. Making certain it stops in the right place. It'll stick right down straight away if done correctly. Painters tape could be used but shouldn't be necessary.
Do a couple dry runs first. Without the adhesive to get good at ending up correctly. If done correctly using 3M's instructions. It'll stick right down on the first go and won't give you second chances.
Then close the door and let it sit overnight.
