I've got a '77 red exterior with white seats and interior trim. The t top liner is black but looks like it was dyed from red. What color would this have been originally?
2-tone interior. Looks very nice. White seats look great but certainly are fun to keep white.
I'm not sure I've ever seen a 2-tone interior in a 77. So I guess I'm no expert. The the overhead trim is all white. So I would think the headliners would match.
I test drove a '76 just like this in Ohio. But the seller did the color changes himself.
The hardest things to color change would be the steering column, dash, shoulder harness, etc.
The rest of the trim parts can be swapped out for white. Such as the door panels, seat covers, rear window trim, etc.
And the smaller pieces can be spray painted. In fact, it looks like the T Bar has primer showing thru.
Your exterior is red so my guess, this was, at one time a Red On Red. Somewhat rare, because a lot of ext red had black int.
Lots of tops got stolen over the years. Maybe they found a set that were already like that (someone dyed them to match another cars black interior) Maybe the inside panels were just beat up and someone found a set in better condition.
Who knows, a lot of these cars had varied and sketchy pasts (with sketchy owners )
As for the car color combination of course it should be on the trim tag
