He will sell it. Here is a screen shot of his thread. I posted in his thread but I use my middle name as my last name on there. Also I misread, it is rebuilt but no idea what’s in it. I guess if someone has the car who cares. Just got to get that block if it’s the real deal.
Hey Ed, I remember some years ago a forum member, who owns an L88 with a NOM, being reunited with it's original motor. Sounds like a win-win... if you can find the car.

It could happen. I reunited a L71 with the original drivetrain last year that were on opposite sides of the country.
Thats why I posted it. I guess it should also go in the orphaned parts section but since it’s an L-88 it needed a dedicated thread. I hope somehow it gets back to the car.
Interesting. The Feb and March 1990 issues of Vette Vues have an ad from someone looking for the L88 block for that car. I don't have those issues available to check. The car is listed in NMVTIS as a convertible.

Holy crap! That means there is a very good chance the car is still out there. I hope they get it together.
The car is a convertible and was last registered in 2022 in California. Also, here is the ad from Vette Vues in 1990. Also, Howard is listing his 69 red convertible for sale, I would assume it is the same car. Like I told Ed offline, this is a factory stamped motor.

The car I was referring to was 27979, a red coupe raced by Garrett Waddell in the IMSA GTO class. It was displayed at Bloomington Gold's L88 Invasion in 2008 and owned by Steve Rohelier. Somehow I remember being involved in the reunification.
The original owner of my Vette picked his car up in St. Louis at the factory on 27 June '69 and he said that while he was doing the paperwork on his they brought an L-88 out for factory delivery.
The serial number on that engine is close to the VIN for my car. He never mentioned what color the car was and he has passed away so I can't ask him.
Since there were so few L-88's delivered I am wondering if it might have been the Vette he saw at the factory.

I had the pleasure of signing off on Garrett's old car for the NCRS American Heritage award up in Canada several years back. I stood in for the 1968-1969 Team Leader who could not attend the event, so I was the lucky person that got to check the car and documentation. It was very cool looking over the old documentation and Garrett's old IMSA logs... Car was really well restored as well!

I have the documentation for an L-88 built very close to the car that this engine belongs to (within 150 cars) that was a factory delivery... This is probably the car the original owner of your car saw.
For what it's worth it was a Monza red/black standard coupe.
This poster on Facebook says he has this L-88 block. It looks real. He’s not selling it but asking about its value if rebuilt.
Pretty interesting.
I’m the daughter of John whose post is being mentioned here. We are in search of this car and are open to absolutely any information anyone has on it. I volunteered to do the leg work looking for it so if anyone has info or advice, please let me know!!

Hey Stan, I reached out to on Facebook. I’m the daughter of John Francis whose post this thread is about. I would love to talk to you about the car and see if you may have any pointers for me where else to look. Hope we can speak soon!
