I realize this is a long shot, but I thought maybe someone could help me. I have a 1969 Fathom Green Corvette Convertible. The gentleman I purchased it from said he bought it from “Cruisin Classics” in Columbus Ohio. I contacted them and they state they don’t have records that far back. Ohio BMV will not disclose any information on past owners so that’s a dead end as well. I’m also told any records were destroyed in a fire at the St. Louis plant years ago. I’m hoping someone may remember the car and be able to give me some information. VIN 194679S714335. Thanks in advance.

There is a copy of your "build sheet" glued to the top of your gas tank to the left of the filler cap. You may be able to see if it is still there by looking through the opening. DO NOT try and remove it through the opening, it will not survive, too old and flimsy, you will have to drop the tank to see it and be VERY careful if you try and remove, photgraph it first. There may be other copies behind the kick panels, under the carpets in front of the seats and behind them and stuck on top of the speedometer, tachometer.
This sheet will contain all info. on the car, options, etc.
You can also join NCRS and then get a copy of your cars "shipping report" which will tell you the dealer the car was delivered to, if they are still in business they may have records..a long shot but try.
I am in the middle of replacing my gas tank but unfortunately, that build sheet is illegible. I didn’t know about the possible copies in other areas. I’ll look there as well. Thanks for the info!
Hang on to that tank and if you have a college or university near you call and see if they have anyone who has knowledge or skills in restoring a historical document it's been done. Start with library Sciences dept.
I attempted to remove it from the tank but I don’t think I can without destroying the document. As a last resort, I’ll cut it out with part of the tank, lol.
