I have a 76’ Dark Green corvette with the white and green two tone interior. Is there a way to find out how many were made. I bought it off of an elderly gentleman with only 42,000 miles on it.
The Corvette Black Book says a total of 2,038 Dark Green 76 Vettes were built, but the book doesn't give any more details about the other options the cars have.
A total of 46,558 76 Vettes were built, all coupes.
And I read not to long ago about the two tone interiors. Offered in 76 and 77. That alone is pretty rare. Although I can't remember numbers, somewhere out there I believe there is a number on how many two tone interiors were built.
bottom line, can't give you a number, but you do have a unique combination.
Sounds like a beautiful car. Enjoy it for what it is.

I've not seen the bluegreen option; post some photos if you can.
The attached article is pending publication in the NCRS Corvette Restorer titled RPO ZJ1: 1976-77 Custom Two-Tone Interior. After considerable study over many years I was able to understand this option for both 76 and 77. I could not find production numbers but it does provide some insight into RPO ZJ1.
Hmmmm?
OK, this is all guess work, but it's based on logic and good solid background in C3's, so I'll hazard an opinion (which is worth no more than anyone else's here).
While I personally LOVE Green, it has traditionally been a less than stellar color when it comes to sales and in 1976 only about 4.5% of the Corvettes came in that Dark Green. With 5 interior color choices offered for Green, you could divide them equally and say that there could have been 407 cars produced with each interior choice offered. But I tend to think that was not the case. If there were more than 400 Green/White interiors I'm pretty sure others here would have seen this combo before (I never have), but it is extremely elusive. I'd believe the other interior colors offered were probably a lot more popular at that time (especially Black) so there will be less cars with the ZJ1 White/Green combo. How many less? Who knows? ....but if I had to lay money on the Pass Line in Vegas I'd guess less than 100...perhaps even less than 50.
Which is really too bad because it is probably an outstanding looking combination today!
Of course, like I said, this is all just guess work, so we'll never really know.
Blanketman, please post some pics of this rare combination inside and out and of the trim tag! We love pics!
Cheers, Greg

Thanks for posting the draft NCRS article. The explanation of the “process” code is very interesting. I own one of the nine ‘76 Corvettes that were ordered with the “SPEC” paint option, as documented on the trim plate. The build sheet from one of the other cars (see photo below) shows the special order build code as “4001XA PAINT BODY IN PRIME”. It isn’t known whether all nine were delivered in prime(r) or whether some were factory-painted in non-standard colors.
I had seen examples of the two-tone interiors on ‘76 and ‘77 cars but was unaware of the special coding and handling that was involved in ordering and building them. I’m hoping that someone with access to similar information for the SPEC paint cars writes an in-depth article for NCRS along the lines of the one that you posted.
Thanks again.
