Looking at getting new shoes for the Corvette! Should I go with BFGoodrich Radial T/A RWL again or Cooper Cobra G/T RWL?
I wanted Good Year RWL but since they bought out Cooper they only Sell Cooper Cobra now.
I'm pretty sure those Michy pilots work great. But not everyone wants the look of the modern tire on a older car.
I went with Vitour Galaxy's the last time after running Cooper's for years. I find the Galaxy's stickier and much Better in the rain than the Cooper's.

The Pilots are second-to-none. I've run them on a couple of late models. But, like you, I wanted to keep the vintage look. I'm not a fan of T/As, so I got Coopers. I mounted 'em black side out. Very pleased in all respects. I never take the Vette out in the rain.
I like the look of the Galaxys (Galaxies?), but was concerned about running a Chinese tire from a company that shows minimal history. Glad they're working out well for you.
I run Mickey Thompsons on mine. I think they are the exact same tires as the Cooper Cobra with different letters on side. I have a problem with the word Cobra on a Corvette.
Agreed, I too was extremely unsettled with the very thought of running a Chinese tire. Really didn't sit well with me.
But, I occasionally do get caught in a sudden cloud burst. And I own my car to enjoy it.
I really did do a fair amount of research the last time I needed tires. I had BF Goodrich way, way back when. Thought they really sucked. They look the part. But do they ever slide. Garbage.
I ran several sets of Cooper's . OK when brand new. But just ok. I ran Mickey Thompson's. Same tire as a Cooper, just a slightly different tread pattern and of course lettering. Same tire, same Mexican factory.
Everyone raved about the Galaxy's. Couldn't find a bad review, yes I know, I was shocked too!
And, there priced right.
How long do they last??
I'll probably never know. I've never worn out a tire on my Corvette. They always get replaced due to age.
So truthfully, couldn't care less about tread life. Much more concerned about sticky. The ratings don't make them out to be that sticky. Yet all the reviews claimed they were. I've had these on our local track. And hands down the Galaxy's have way, way better hold than Cooper's or Mickey Thompson. And Goodrich, I don't think I'd go out on the track. That would just be embarrassing.
So, yes. Chinese tires. Bugs me too. But they do work.
Yep. Mine look brand but it's time to replace them. They've been fantastic. No reason to buy any other 15" tire. V-rated & great price -- I keep the black sidewalls out.

The one thing about BFG is the white lettering will turn brown, I am amazed that Michelin will not adjust/fix the tire compounds to avoid this from continuing to occur?
IMHO 17" is what looks best on C3 Corvettes and you have access to real sticky tires then.
15" RWL look best on C3s. And there are only a handful of choices in that size, and none are summer performance tires.
Take a look on Tirerack and you will quickly see how many more options exist in 18" than even 17". It's not just about looks. It's also about future-proofing your car.
