Last year, I purchased an 81 vette for $5K as is. Soon after taking it home I realized that the interior was garbage and needed to be replaced. So the entire interior was gutted, from the carpet to the dash , below are the progress photos. The door panels are left off for painting. Please let me know how I did.
It does seem that the glove box door is off a little. There are no adjustments on the hinges but you can tweek it by hand. If you want the top left corner to go in, grasp the lower right corner with one hand and pull a little while you grasp the top left corner and push. It will move so go easy and keep playing with it until it’s flush. You need the door open to do this and the hinges will move appropriately.
Looks great. Where did you buy the carpets? I have to replace my 81 carpets. I'm not doing a full resto, I just want to get drivers and passenger floor only in black. I have to change both side boards to console but a ripped off the carpet that was there and I'll glue them on the new side boards. Do you know best best/cost to buy the floor carpets? I can't figure out why all the carpets wouldn't be the same from 68-82.
Thanks all, the carpet was purchased off Ebay. This month is engine compartment, changing the entire A/C system, Carburetor, all hoses and fluids. Next month body work and paint. I'll post more photos as my work continues. Any, YES. I did all the work so far.
