Default Starter Wiring Question (‘71)

Looking to sort out the current wiring on my ‘71 project. Please see this video (skip to 10:55 for the wiring and questions:

1: What is the light-colored “cloth” wire?
2: What is the brown w/white stripe wire?

<<< Update >>>

I decided to order a new Engine Wiring Harness
The "Yellow Cloth" wire is the 'Coil to Solenoid' wire and is not part of the Engine Harness, but can be added to the starter pigtail.

Thank to everyone who helped!

Thanks.

OP, first, let me thank you for taking a video, and posting it on YouTube. This is often the best way to describe a problem.

Can you edit your post to include a question? My wiring harness isn't nearly that bad, and I chose to replace the entire thing anyway. Here's a related thread with a similar suggestion.

And if you right-click on the video, you can post a link with a time cue, so otherwise helpful folks don't have to click on the bar at the bottom.

Thank you for the reply. I added a couple questions. I’m leaning towards replacing the entire engine harness, mainly to make sure it’s all de-bubbafied.

That is certainly what I would suggest.

Wiring diagrams are here, but do yourself a favor and get a shop manual and assembly instruction manual (AIM) for your year as well.

I think the cloth wire is an ignition coil bypass to provide 12V during startup. That solenoid terminal isn't used on later C3s with HEI. Brown with white stripe, not sure, but it might be on the diagram.

I have the AIM and it does come in handy most of the time. I ended up ordering a new Engine Wiring Harness from Zip. Most of the dash and light wires look to be in good shape, so fingers are crossed.

Thanks for helping.
