The octagon and pear keys had two iterations: #1 through '66 and #2 for '67 & '68. 1967 keys introduced key blades with different grooving for more key combinations (i.e., security) from year to year. The '67 keys carried A-code on the ignition and B-code on the locks - this A/B code was repeated in '71, '75, '79, '84/85. 1968s had C/D codes on the blades which repeated in '72, '76, and '80; '69s introduced the rectangular and oval headed keys with E/H coded blades and '70s had J/K blades, both following the same 4-year skip pattern. (I assume F/G/capital-i were not used because of potential confusion with E, C, and H.)
The '67 A/B and '68 C/D are kinda odd ***** because they had the old look but the new key coding system. Because the letter pairs repeated, using the rectangular and oval heads will work just fine for '67 and '68.
