I have 2 corvette rally wheels that I picked up over the years.
One was the spare tire on a 77 car that looked like in was in a lake for a long time.
The second one I believe came as spare tire on my 69 when I purchased it.
I know over the years wheels got moved all over the place on these cars, so I am not associating anything with the year of car they came off of.
They both have are stamped with the following at the air valve.
K10 J0 (VALVE STEM) 13 AZ Deciphered as Kelsey-Hayes Romulus plant, 1980? January 13th corvette
and
K18 3 (VALVE STEM) 3 AZ Deciphered as Kelsey-Hayes Romulus plant, 1968 or 78? March 3rd corvette
The first one is in very good shape and the second pretty crusty.
Anyone able to confirm how close I got to the correct dates on these ?
If the K18 has a date of 3-3 then it’s certainly a 1978. They first wheels made with the AZ code did not get made until August 1968. The K10 I would have to see it. If it has the BB weld dot it’s a 1970. Also as Jhudec pointed out, the early rims have the date stamped opposite of the later rims.
