Transporting Vette from Washington State to Florida
Bought a Vette in Washington state. Researching auto transport companies offering enclosed hauling Things I have learned this week:
1) Many of the familiar brands like Intercity and Horseless Carriage do not service the Northwest
2) Some companies present themselves at owner operators, but they are not. Such as Reliable. They contract with independent haulers
3) Majority of the business is NOW controlled by brokers utilizing independent haulers
4) Top brokers: Montway, SGT, Nexus, Sherpa
5) The brokers talk about, but can't guarantee: a pick up time, transit time or a delivery time
6) Because of the distance there are no guarantees the car will not loaded and off loaded and then stored at terminal, As it it relayed across the country. These are the things that will keep you up at night
7) Most will not accept an extra large box with a large part (Muncie Transmission) that goes with the car.
8) Nothing in the front seat and up tp 100 lbs. of parts or personal items in the car. One rep continued to argue with me to "just put it in the trunk or on the backseat"} Obviously does not know cars. That in itself is concerning!!
The search continues will update on our progress. Regards, Mark

Reason: Correct number sequence
You could try Motoshippers (Tim) out of Washington State. I used them to ship a motorcycle (but they also do automobiles) from AZ to San Diego last month, good service and communication.

First, what was #2?
Second, I used Intercity from NH to WA years ago with absolutely zero problems. Sad to hear they told you they don't serve the NW anymore.

Glenn
Glenn, Thanks for the lead. Contacted Tim with Motoshippers. Pricing was reasonable. But, they are booked through April. Tells me he must be good.
Not sure I can wait that long .
Good luck. I had mine shipped from Winston, OR to Miami 20 yrs ago for $1600. Supposedly enclosed. Picked up on a flatbed tow truck, tracked it to San Diego, took a month to get delivered on an open trailer to my house. Good news, no damage. Truth is, once they get their hands on your car... you have NO CONTROL!

Mark, You're most welcome! Yes, they were very reasonable on the motorcycle shipping and came with a semi and 48' enclosed car trailer. Very professional and communicative. Hope you find someone that can get you the car, sometimes it can be hard on a long haul like yours. Glenn
Man, another couple of weeks and that would be a great road trip! The weather will be just about perfect.
Run down I-5 from Seattle to SoCal and Take I-10 east all the way to sunny Florida
Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Wow! 10 great states! (OK 9 great states but still a fun trip).
It's not going to be a guaranteed pickup timeframe. I used an enclosed carrier 20 years ago, from Ann Arbor, Michigan to Dallas, Texas. Mills Transport, Dubuque, Iowa. Might try them on the outside chance they could provide timely cartage.
No help, but it's a shame there's not in existence in 2024, an Internet clearing house offering AND needing cartage to unlimited points in the United Ststes and Canada.

mbeeman,
Please note we service the PNW, however we do not have a direct route from the PNW to FL, we typically go East to West and vice versa for the PNW.

Paul
nwav8tor,
Please note we still do service the PNW, we just do not have direct service from the PNW to FL. We typically run East to West and vice versa in and out of the PNW.

So with the challenge of getting a ride from the Pacific North West to Florida. This morning I was just getting ready to commit to one of the brokers like Montway, Nexus or SGT. Being none of the major car haulers could service the area or were months away.
In the 11th hour Chris called me from Passport. Over the weekend some orders for pickup in Washington came through. So looks like the car will be picked up next week!! Fingers crossed.
Thanks to everyone for your input.
