Default Electrical issue

This is my 1981,I already have removed computer, and replaced carburetor intake, and distributor along with other mods, since then have had it cranked,so up to six months ago, before I took interior out, replaced master cylinder and brake booster, and also trying to remove the wires going to the computer, which I think is where I made the mistake, but to late now,now when I parked it this last time,I would put key in and buzzard would cut on,and when I opened the door the dome light would cut on,along with the kick panel lights would come on,now I don’t have nothing,so pretty sure it’s a wire I either intentionally or mistakenly unhooked or something,I do have wiring drawing, and not very good with electrical but have a test light and multimeter,my question is where to start to get some power back. Thanks

The best way you can start is to backtrace from the kick panel light. Familiarize yourself with the schematic at that location and then backtrack. Good luck

If the 81 is wired like the 82 you just can't remove the ECM wiring without affecting non engine management electrical. You see on my 82 the dash and non engine management harnesses run to the back of the car were the dash, non engine management, and engine management harnesses connect. And some of the engine management wiring is merged with the rest of the vehicle wiring, it just doesn't unplug.

As you see some of the engine management wiring was removed separately from the dash and vehicle wiring. I hope that clears things up for you.

I believe there is a wire going off the headlight switch that goes into the courtesy light circuit( kick panel and dome). I think it is a ground but not the ground that screws behind the dash, it comes directly from the headlight switch. You were in that area working on the master cyl so maybe you knocked that wire off. Maybe you will be lucky...

"Hang in there".....
my thread would be 50% shorter if I hadn't made mistakes learning how to work on my car.
