Default Main Fuse Size?

I’m installing a Vintage Air system into a base 71 C3 w/o AC, no power anything, or any other power modifications. The radio draws about the same as OE.

I’m planning to run a power wire off the battery to a small 4-wire fuse block in the battery space and I want to put a fuse between the Batt and that fuse block. I have a Blue Sea terminal connector that takes from 3-300 amp fuses.

As of now, the only thing that will run off the block is the Vintage Air, which gets a 30 amp fuse.

What size fuse would be reasonable for the Terminal block? 50? 100?

I may add a couple items to the compact fuse block later, but don’t have plans for anything that would draw a ton of amps - maybe a small power amp for the stereo if it needs it. (I prefer engine sound most of the time!)

thanks for your thoughts on this

Fuse size is determined by the wire size. You want the fuse to blow before the wire melts. See chart below-
You can always run a smaller fuse-

You want the fuse as close to the source ( battery ) as possible.
At each junction where you change the wire size- you will need to fuse that wire accordingly.

The other thing- make sure you use cross poly link insulated wire -rated for under hood temps (256º) NOT the "primary" wire you find at the autoparts store ( only rated at 180º)
