In the “evolution” of my 69 L46 coupe, I’ve accumulated some leftovers. They will never go back on my car. Of this stuff, what should I just throw away? I have:
Harrison big block radiator + shroud + fan
Cast iron intake plus non-original Quadrajet, various associated fittings
“ cylinder heads
“ exhaust manifolds original starter motor
all the smog equipment, pump, plumbing etc
original pulleys for power steering plus smog hood + hardware + wiper grill + assorted other hardware such as the trim pieces & actuator
distributor and ignition shielding
bell housing reconditioned (Ssnake Oyl) seat belts and shoulder harness retractor assemblies
I still have the original motor, stroked to a 383 and it was running strong when I pulled it. In theory a lot of this could go back on the block and look quite original, although not numbers matching to anything. Is that even a remote possibility?
That would take just the right kind of buyer with an empty engine compartment!

post it in c3 parts for sale. Make yourself a Vette Fund for new tires, etc. Win Win.

You seem to have a lot of stuff that 69 owners might be interested in. Look around to get an idea of what each item is worth, then deduct an amount to start. And remember shipping might make people hold back on paying a fair price. Maybe set a time limit on how long you want to hold onto these things, then throw out whatever is left. Or offer up here free plus shipping. Reach out to Bills17n72 here on the forum. He always has something FOR SALE and he knows how to price a lot of it. Maybe he can give you some tips.
I agree with posting it up, even if free for shipping costs. Original dated parts could be gold to a NCRS competitor. Like the saying goes, “One man’s junk….”
It’s all valuable to someone somewhere. In most cases with stock engine parts and accessories, weight becomes a problem as it gets real expensive to ship stuff. I’d take all the leftovers that you choose to give away rather than throw away because I’m kinda local to you. Shipping sucks, fortunately I pickup! Shoot me a PM after you decide if interested

Napa's close. Send me a PM with your contact info, easier to keep it for me that way. I despair about somebody needing a hood, etc and wanting it shipped. I do think that has some value but finding the right person is a long term get. Everybody always upgrades their hood. What happens to their original, who knows. I suppose somebody might want to put a scoop on an original but I am not a fan of those mods.
At some point stuff's gotta go, but I am not there yet. But if I get to it I will send you some pictures.
Thanks for all your replies. I still think somebody wanting to drop an original looking motor into something has some value to somebody, but finding that person .... well that's a different thing.

Will you let me know what ignition shielding components you have available?
Thank you,
George
I will send you pictures, I think I have most everything needed for a complete system. I am in the process of unpacking the items that have come up in this thread and documenting them.
I am starting to piece together all of the items I mentioned in my first post. Seeing them on the work bench I am starting to realize I have an almost complete retro fit to a short block. Not everything is original, there were some substitutions along the way. Smog went on and off when needed to pass inspection. Holley and an aluminum hi-rise and headers were next. Once I no longer had a smog inspection due, I had the motor stroked and added a roller cam and aluminum heads. After that the LS3 was dropped in and the iron block motor( in very strong running condition) went under the work bench. But I seem to have kept all the motor stuff that would get it back to looking "period" but not really NCRS. So I am thinking that over.
At this point the throwaway seems to be the radiator. Pictures to come as I uncover more of this stuff. I value any comments that help me put a dollar value on this stuff. I still would like to find a guy that wants to buy the "whole shebang" so I haven't put anything in the 'for sale' section yet. I am not sure what forum policy is either about that, as expressions of interest here get first crack or at least 'right of first refusal' or even make 'me an offer'.
Cylinder heads. One of my originals was cracked. I think it was a coolant leak. Anyway I sent them out. The machine shop found the same casting and that replaced the original on the passenger side.
Driver's side original Passenger side replacement Driver's side Passenger side Driver's side Passenger side Both sides have hardened seats Driver's side where the temp unit would be. I think I still have it somewhere Pretty much all the valves look like this
This is the carb that I got back maybe 40 years ago and is not original. It was supposedly ready to bold back in but I never did that. Probably best sent to Lars.
Here's what I got from a thread from a person looking for an original
When I switched my L46 January 69 car to a Z28 manifold and Holley carb, I sent the Quad out to be professionally rebuilt by my local shop.
The numbers stamped into the body are
702927 2125
The filter body has 8X8Y9Z. stamped into it.
the secondaries have RP 32712 & 32747
'ed427vette' had this to say: "If the numbers you showing are correct (2125) then I think that carb is from 1975, the 212th day, unless they changed the date configuration and put the year first making it the 125th day of 1972."
Smog system here. My car is a January 69 car. Everything looks to be complete even including the manifold inserts. Nothing is horribly corroded. Has been in a box for decades in my garage out of any weather or moisture.
I probably have the heat riser somewhere. The air pump turns freely and I can feel compression. The plastic impeller on the pump is unfortunately turning completely to dust. Cannot imagine what it was made of to so completely disintegrate.
I guess that water pump pulley is dedicated solely to the air pump.
All the tabs on the manifolds are for the shielding. I'll take another picture of that "system" next.
Turns out the pulley by itself is pretty rare and goes for some healthy three figure $$$'s
While the fan on my pump was black, whatever material it was disintegrated. I see in Vette Vues, a white fan was also installed. I don't know who got what but here is the relevant page
This is invaluable for 68 and 69. Just note all the pictures are in black and white but crazy amount of detail for you OCD types. Since white is OK, I found a source and ordered one. This should make the entire system correct and functional for a 69. It may also apply to Camaros - I have to check on that
