Default Title clarification

I recently inherited my late father-in-law’s 79 vette, I did a vin search on BeenVerified and it showed a salvage-reasons other than damage or stolen, plus two reports of a rebuilt title, I’m good with cars just not the title end of things, any information on these items would be helpful.

thank you,

I got a78 about 10 years ago and the original vin tag was missing on the dash and an Alabama vin tag was fastened to thhe door post with the original vim embossed in it. I called Alabama and they told me it was legit. I also called South Carolina SLED. And they told me it was a cleanntitle and not salvaged. They were a lot of help and I wanted to make sure there were no issues when I went to title it. And there were none. Upon further inspection I discovered a repair to the driver side that went as far up as the bottom of the dash. Hence the tag removal. Try contacting your local MV department. They might give you a clearer idea of whatyou have. And get names and numbers in case of an issue you know who to call/blame. I wasn’t concerned since I only paid $1000 for the car. Good luck

thank you,
Sounds to me like it was totaled & repurchased from the insurance company or an auction then rebuilt. What state are you in ? Do you have a copy of the title ?

I live in Kansas, but the salvage was in 2000 in Missouri, my curiosity is the “salvage-reasons other than damage or stolen” to me that says it was not wrecked or in a flood. I’ve never heard of that type of salvage.
thanks for replying.

Is the title a Kansas title? If so, that info may not apply anymore, or not even true or relevant. To be positive, put the question to the state the title you possess was issued from. Ask if it’s a ‘clear’ title.

Might have been a repo in sometime in its life.

OP, is the car in your avatar, the car you're referring to? If so, maybe if you post up a larger picture of it, someone here might recognize it, as it appears to have some custom work, and they could possibly have the "back story" on it.
