If you get classic car insurance, it can be very inexpensive, under $40/month. However you have to meet certain criteria depending on the company including possibly: a limit to the miles driven, it has to be garaged, and it cannot be the primary vehicle in a household. I had a 1972 Vette with Grundy (actually under a subsidiary of Grundy called Philadelphia indemnity ) that was around $28 a month insured in CA with agreed-upon value of $32,000. My Corvette rolled down my driveway without me and hit a car on the opposite side of the road. Insurance paid quickly without any hassle. I was impressed with the way that they handled it.
greetings... we gotts auto owners for all vehicles and house... the premium for the 70 is $120 per year unrestricted... hit a deer last year and they took care of the whole shebang in excess of $23k no questions asked... we gotts our renewal and no rate increase... 100% positive with auto owners...
note... our 2002 lexus sc430 hardtop convertible is $800 per year... ouch...
You must have your cars valued at practically nothing for that price.
Nope $88000 for the vette and $35000 for the Pontiac. We live in the middle of nowhere Wisconsin, never had a ticket or an accident in our whole lives, garage kept, fenced in property. Been on Hagarty's books for almost 30 years.

Most of the insurance companies know these aren't daily drivers, so the risk is much lower. Classic car owners are almost invariably driving their cars in fair weather only, and for only part of the year - generally the summer months in the Midwest and East Coast, but even in Southern Cali and AZ where the weather is fairly nice all year round, most classic car owners are still driving their cars on an occasional basis. That's how they can keep the rates down for our Vettes, and similar classics.

our cars get used here in Wisconsin some of May if we're lucky, June, July, August and most of September.
I think insurance cost depends on coverage, area, age, driving record, and the car. It would be different for a guy under 25, with a few tickets, maybe a minor accident living in a large city or close to it, than it would be for a guy with no record, over 35, in a rural area.

Same with me
68 bb tri power - match # cnv vette
05 wrangler with very very low miles on Long Island no tix / no accidents / garaged / over 30 yrs etc. & it cost more then 10X's that amount - $70 per year, per car sounds like it's for storage only / not allowed to drive it

Nope unlimited miles and roadside recovery with hagarty. My daily driver is a different story, 2021 kia forte gt .... $152 a month
Curios what makes a daily driver 2021 Kia Forte a collectable / specialty, historical, antique, classic, that Hagerty would insure it at all ???
You stated it might be for storage but I was stating that my hagarty insurance indeed not only includes roadside recovery but unlimited miles and obviously I don't have my kia insured through hagarty, I was trying to share the difference in rates of my daily driven vehicle in my area and the price difference of my classic car insurance in my area with my record.
As far as long Island goes insurance there is apparently effected by the tourist industry that long Island states "leads to busy roads and contributes to the above-average rates." Average car coverage there is $195 per month followed closely behind by near New York at an average of $157 per month.... Location does have an effect. My town has 195 people and has no access to the highway. One road has a 55mph speed limit. The next biggest "city" is 2 hours away with a population of 9000.

I don't want to say exactly what town I live in on the Internet but I saw your profile says Wisconsin rapids, I live about 3 hours and 45 minutes north west of you.
Just make sure the car is insured under "agreed value" and not "stated value". Big difference in price and coverage. My 66 Vette, 68 Vette and 70 SS Chevelle come in at $2,250 annually, full stacked liability coverage to $1M , no deductible on collision, fire theft etc. No tickets or accidents or claims in Tampa in 40 years. if you haven't tried the insurance availability through the national corvette museum, you should at least give them a call. i was insured years ago with hagarty but found that the coverage limits for everything like parts in your garage, etc plus the ability to use the car back and forth to work 1 day a week or less (useful way back when i was working), and other things was better with the museum facility. you will find options for amount of mileage driven per year (1k, 3, 5k and customized) and the same restrictions regarding the security of the vehicle (locked garage etc). i have been insured through them for the past 20 years or more on a variety of vehicles (not just corvettes, they even insure my 38 ford p/u streetrod). they are a full service agency and a pleasure to deal with.
I had my '75 C3 and two factory turbo motorcycles insured through Hagerty for many years. I sold the C3 in '11 and put a vintage Porsche on the policy for another 4 years. They were always reasonable, but around 2015 the price more than doubled for the car. Do a search and you'll find quite a few complaints across different car forums.
Dumped them for AMIG at half the price for the same coverage. As the value of the Porsche drastically went up, I continued to increase the agreed value. I just renewed the Porsche last month @ $50K agreed value for $500 a year (bikes have always remained about $200 for both). That $500 is still in the ballpark of what Hagerty wanted NINE years ago for $12K in agreed value. All my policies are $500K liability as they were with Hagerty.
Of course there's spare parts coverage, towing and NO deductible...that's pretty much a given for any agreed value collector policy.
As far as driving record and location...last ticket was minor and over 33 years ago and I've never had an accident claim in my life. I live in a small Indiana town, property insurance is some of the lowest in the nation. The normal policy for my daily, which is a Porsche Cayenne S, runs me $300 a year for full coverage and my Hayabusa is $372 a year for full coverage. Both at $500K liabilities.
So, $88,000 for a Corvette and $35,000 for a Pontiac? $123,000.00 in coverage for $140 a year??? Either it's storage coverage as someone stated above or Hagerty has made a HUGE billing error...as in someone forgot to add a zero.
Does anyone on this forum have that kind of coverage through Hagerty at that low of a price? If so, I definitely need to give them another chance and get a quote. I just find it hard to believe they'd insure a $5K basket case for $140 a year.
I was also going to question the drastic difference of paying over $1,800 a year for something like a KIA (you'd think horrible driving history or ghetto location), but then I remembered reading that many insurance companies flat out refuse to write a policy for them. Thanks to a TikTok trend, they're the ultimate joyride car as a kid can steal one in under 30 seconds.
