Default 69 horn button assembly

I have the AIM for the steering column horn assembly but it is hard to tell how the black retainer is positioned to hold the spring and the button in place. Anyone have a nice pic of how this part of the horn assembly goes together. My steering column is a standard 69 column, no tilt, no telescopic steering wheel.

I put this together a few years ago, should have everything you need to put it back together.

Hey Steve,
That is one exceptionally well documented step-by-step procedure for the '69 horn assembly. Page 3 was exactly what I was looking for but I printed all 12 pages in color because it's just impressive to read and look at.

Thank you very much!

Hi Steve,
Just wanted to tell you that I have finally finished installing a new NCRS correct ignition lock with new NCRS correct ignition keys (2 sets), I finished replacing the aluminum horn button. There were all kinds of problems - wrong stuff installed by someone in the past. The aluminum horn button was cut down just over a 1/4" shorter than it was supposed to be. It had the wrong cancelling cam installed. There was nowhere in the old stem of the cancelling cam for the black plastic retainer to anchor inside the stem and keep tension on the spring. There were no shims. Basically, a lot of bubba presence and things just messed up.

The good news is that with your extraordinary step-by-step instructions, I was able to figure out what was wrong (wrong parts), order the correct items from Corvette Central, and install all of the correct items back into the steering column so that is not only right but is now also NCRS correct (ignition switch and keys), cancel cam, horn assembly, shims, etc...and the horns works.

THANK YOU!

Kevin
