Default Cleaning up / rewiring behind dash

Hey guys,

I am swapping out my gauges and thought I might as well do some cleanng. I am thinking about putting my distribution block where I drew the green rectangle - that spot of rust is worrisome. Can I just remove that asbestos insulation? Thanks in advance.

I like this fuse box, because I can power as ignition and one as illumination.

To the best of my knowledge, GM did not use asbestos in the firewall insulation. Jerry

Since it's a fuse block.... maybe put it where you can get at it without needed to take the dash apart... (hopefully you'll never need to change a fuse but...)

Check for room here

or maybe on or under the heater box plenum or somewhere that you can get to if / when you need to

I sure hope it's not asbestos!

I put my aftermarket fuse box in the glove box. Too old to lay on my back with my feet in the air.
