Who does the community suggest to send my original master cylinder off to to have it repaired? I do not want it restored, just repaired. It came with the car. I don't know if it leaks or is clogged up. I just know it was replaced several years ago.
White Post Restorations sleeved and rebuilt my correct (born with) ‘69 MC. I asked them specifically to not paint it otherwise they would have painted it. They will not “just repair” they will sleeve it before rebuilding it. That way you won’t call them in a few weeks when the next part of it clogs or goes bad. It will last.
If you want to just repair it get a rebuild kit and do it on your workbench. Be careful of any mass market rebuilders because you may run the risk of an exchange rather than getting your original MC back.
Being a rookie I rebuilt my original master cylinder with a kit and a small bore hone that fits an electric drill. Even though there was some pitting in the bore of the cylinder, honing helped alot and 9 years later the M.C. stll holds good pressure with no leaking.
Bad pitting in the cylinder, like the Low Option said would require a sleeve in the bore.
I second White Post for a rebuild. I sent them a master cylinder from my other car a1970 Hemi Cuda, original non-power drum brake car with it's original master cylinder and White Post did an amazing job. Yes they sleve it with a brass sleeve so you never have to worry about rust or pitting again.
