Default Heater core by pass help

Hi first time posting here.I currently own a c3 1969 corvette 427 l36 but has a 396 out of a chevelle in it now my car has a coolant expansion tank mounted to the inside passenger fender I don’t no how to by pass my heater core. over heated and there was a lot of coolant in passenger foot well very confused with what hoses to connect or if I need to block off something on water pump or intake manifold

Because one heater hose is 5/8" and the other is 3/4" there is a special connector just for this job.
Its black plastic and has both of the above sizes to make a temporary loop.
Simply remove the heater hoses from the core after draining some coolant.
Attach hoses to adaptor, clamp it, good to go until repair is made.
