I went to replace my taillights with original style ones. The previous owner had put these bubble ones on there, I didn’t know they were just covers. When I took them off, I found the OE taillights still there and the only issue with them, was where he drilled holes in them to mount the covers. Such a shame.
Some bubble kits just have the red lens like yours. The complete kit comes with all the stuff to do it right, think it was about $100 some 30 years ago.
Bubbles are cool.
