Inside Mirror loose/floppy

The mirror is loose and flops where the ball stud sits in the bracket and is held in place by the ball stud retainer. The Ball Stud appears to be in very good condition. The mirror itself is tight.

Any ideas to tighten up that point where the stud sits in the bracket? Shim ideas? Previous owner had a piece of paper wedged in it. The pic is snipped from Zip's website.

I placed a piece of thin leather between the ball and bracket for mine. I'd think cereal box board, paper, or just about anything would work.

Yes, anything to take up a little space so it tightens down better but still allows adjustment.
