How can a feller remove the upper shifter slider (one with larger oval) from the console panel. I have disassembled everything except the rivets. Is there a way to remove the slider without removing the rivets? I have looked and poked at everything and can not find a solution. Thank you!
Yes it's done without removing rivets
There is a raised bump over on the side that catches in the cutout on the side of the slider. You need to raise the slider up to get it on top of that bump and then it can be pulled out. Pushing it to the far side away from the bump helps but doesn't let it clear. A thin piece of plastic (like a credit card) slipped in can help sometimes but not usually needed
