Side pipes and rock chips
On my 72 the paint between rear of doors and wheel well takes a beating. With small children I don't want side pipes at this time but in the future if I found a car with great paint and side pipes would the pipes help protect that area of the body from the stones coming off the front wheels? Any thoughts on this?

You can get protective film
This is what I used, works well. It's clear and you can peel it off. Helps with chips and rubber
