Looking for the best set of headers & side pipes for our '76 Running into roadblocks. . I heard a set on you tube that I would like to find out more about, the post is 10 yrs. old though. .Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would like the headers to be ceramic coated on the inside if possible. I've looked at Doug's , Headman, Hooker all say they fit a one size fits all, My muffler guy tried to install a set of these on a '79 they no fit. .SBC Sorry pic is so big, Youtube video is " Best 1976 Black Corvette Exhaust" Yes our car has the cam etc. . to complete the sound though. .

I bought a set of Doug's from Jegs and the drivers side is good to go. Had to pull the plugs, dip stick tube and oil pressure sender to get it in. Have not started the passenger side.
Installed Doug's ceramic headers and pipes, fit great, no issues... as stated above removed all plugs and temp sending unit on drivers side, dip stick on pass side, both sides installed with zero issues in a few hours.
I’m looking at those and also Billy Boat Exhaust as a consideration. Mostly because it will be the first thing “local” and I won’t have to pay outrageous shipping fees!! 😉😎❤️
I'm lookin for 1976 specific header side pipe venders. .All the ones posted are very nice but most don't cross install all models.. Please list venders that I'm looking for would give me insight. I'm getting mixed messages from the shop doing the work,
Welp, thanks @Golfobsessed those look good, I've ordered a set similar from Corvette Central Part # 322402

I think that will be a challenge for you as there are not a 1976 specific side exhaust headers, they make them to fit a nearly all the years. That said, there may need to be some slight mods to make them fit perfectly. For example, I had to slightly notch my rocker molding for the side exit of the headers behind the front tires.
What area on the car/header is your muffler guy say it it not fit?

He didn't say, they just remembered a bad taste in his mouth having the company to eat the system. .
If you are dealing with a shop that has done only one installation, that is the problem not the product. Either install yourself or find an experienced shop.

Might be so, but based on your description of their experience with Corvette aftermarket side exhaust they have not proven their capabilities. There is no such product as a 1976 specific system and thousands of these systems have been installed over the decades on all years of C3 Corvettes.

I would try to ask and find out what specifically that did not allow them fit. I do not know the shop or installer so I will not make accusations on their ability, but their are novices here who have never installed a set of side exhaust that did so will little difficulty. It could be your car ( these cars are not perfect, sometimes there is variance even driver vs passenger side), could be a bad set of headers etc. Without knowing specifically why they didn't fit, .it's anyone's guess.

Well I don't know what I don't know that's why I asked. . . All I know for sure is the system supposedly purchased for a '78/'79 didn't fit

Again, no such thing as a specific 78/79 or 76 Hooker, Doug's, etc. aftermarket side exhaust. They fit all year C3's. Without knowing the exact details very difficult what to recommend other than a shop that does C3 aftermarket side exhaust on a regular basis.
Don’t assume a shop with a good rep is going to do good every time. I just took a set of tires into a shop that has been doing all my tires for years. They came back with gouges in the powder coat from scraping off the wheel weights and two of the tires were mounted backwards. (And it says right on the tire “inside” or “outside”). Seems they gave them to one of the new hires and didn’t check his work or methods.
I recently installed a set of Hedman side exit headers. I had to remove spark plugs, dipstick and steering ram to get the driver's side in and even then it took a couple of hours of jiggling around to get the right angle to feed it in. Passenger side was a lot easier. Also had to cut away a bit of the fibreglass at the bottom of the fender under the rocker panel to fit the exhaust pipe.
