When you buy new replacement seat covers, the options generally are:
Leather (full),
Leather (seating surfaces),
Leather-like,
Vinyl.
The price tracks the quality. Maybe some past owner ordered "Vinyl" or "leather-like" replacement covers. That's what I ordered for my car. It's a softer material than vinyl. Feels more like leather. Probably doesn't dry up and crack like real leather (after many yrs). I see some wrinkles on those seats at the sharp corners. But not bad. Some of that is just the nature of the beast when you buy aftermarket parts/covers. Ya try to work out the wrinkles, but depends how much time a guy takes, use a heat gun...and ultimately how they're sewn?? Overall it looks like a good interior.
Every new Corvette buyer *thinks* they're going to be putting 20k miles a year. If that was the case where are all the C3 on the road??? More than likely after the 2nd yr you'll be down to driving less than 500 mi a yr...if even that, and by yr 4 maybe 150 miles a yr. So, for most owners, is it worth spending a lot of money on leather? Depends. Of course maybe you'll be buck the trend (hopefully).
Thanks, i forgot all about vinyl seat covers being available. The only thing i would use a Corvette for these days is going to a few local car things and the grocery store, i just miss having one.
Your first beverage spill will inform you quickly whether those clamshells are leather or vinyl.
As I get older I am thinking about a sippy cup when I drive. 😀
I'm from another generation but after 19 Corvettes since 1976 I can say I’ve never even considered the concept of any sort of “beverage” inside my Corvette’s interior. I know people can’t live without cup holders nowadays.
Anyway, OP, that interior looks like the cheap vinyl or fake pleather the parts houses sell. You get what you pay for. They also chose to install it themselves, clinging onto a few more dollars and resulting in that wrinkly mess you see there.
if you want it to look nice, get the real leather sections already installed on new foam. If you are going to drive it a bit and have food and drinks and kids and whatnot in it, that interior will do just fine.
