Wonder if anyone can help me out. I am looking for partnumbers (or size) of the fasteners to mount the uper dash to the firewall/bulkhead.
Think I tried evry screw in my interior screw kit, but they are all to small in diameter. Are the screws or bolts?
The 1972 AIM is the same as '73 shown above. There is only one fastener for the dash and it's a screw - you can see it in the lower right of this pic. The forward edge of the dash is held by tabs and the slant of the windshield.
Illustration from my GM parts catalog. Item #18 maybe?
I don't think that illustration is applicable to '72. The AIM shows the forward dash panel has clips that fit on the welded metal windshield structure. Look at View A in the lower right - it shows how it secures under the windshield.
Yeah that one I saw in the AIM. I don't have that middle bracket. Maybe some has been creative in the past. Any way, I now know what to look for bolt wise. Let's see if I can find a local supplier, shipping to NL is killing these days.

As mentioned above, my '72 shows a rusty (matching the bracket's rust) large-headed Phillips screw securing the pad to the bracket. I don't recall what fastener is used to attach the bracket to the windshield structure. Make sure that whatever fastener you choose is pretty short - like 1/2" at most. You really don't want the point coming up to the topside.
That is General Motors Chevrolet Division Parts and Illustration Catalog. When you went to your friendly Chevrolet Dealer Parts Department and needed a replacement part for your Corvette, that's the catalog the parts counterman used to lookup the correct part number.
