Could anyone direct me to a reputable company that sells good car covers?
I just bought my first C3, and I don't have a garage to put it in, so I'm looking for a really good cover that will last in the elements, and protect my vette.
I'm having a lot of trouble finding a trustworthy company that offers high quality covers.
I have been using Sealskin covers for the last 4 years. The best cover they sell has a soft lining protects the cars finish.
They are vinal and keeps the weather off of the car. I have used them through rain, and snow. I do not have a garage to store my 79 Vette in.
Cover Craft makes custom fit car covers. I have been purchasing the Ultra Tech because it has a five year warranty. The good car covers will let in some water when it rains, but since they will a lot let out in water / humidity on the paint. Best thing is Cover Craft honors their warranty. Make sure you let them know if your car has a luggage rack.
I have CoverKing car covers for my 68, 08, and 23 (!) and my 97 Ford Thunderbird. I like the fit. Snug. The Corvette car covers are their expensive indoor/outdoor covers and are lined with a soft material. They advertise their covers as being made in the US and claim that their workers have medical and vacation benefits. So they are not cheap. But I've been using them for many years and happy with them, so I don't mind the extra cost.
Yes. If you have a crease in the cover that pools water against your car, it can happen. I had a paint sag on the nose of my hood. I didn't shake the cover and let a puddle sit for a few days. When I eventually pulled the cover, the paint sag was full of water underneath the surface. I almost died, just left it alone and it went away.
Just make a habit of shaking pools of water off. And I also roll the cover up and let the car and cover air dry. You don't want water proof material... it has to breath.
My neighbor repainted his blazer hood. Cat kept jumping on it, so he covers it in painter's plastic. It rains, water got under it and the sun came out...... it blistered and destroyed his hood.
Somebody will surely post a picture of a lacquer corvette horribly disfigured from a cover.
I've got some syringes and thin CA glue. I plan on repairing two dime size bubbles. Also resealing my rear window, it pools water horribly in that joint and has cracked the paint.
