Just bought this Flame Orange '75 this week. Its got the base engine and I'm fine with that. All I require of my classic cars is that they look pretty and crank when I turn the key. Best I and my mechanic can tell, its in great shape. I'm not a purist and would probably be considered a whipped snapper by a few on here, so I want to make a few mods and am looking for opinions. I want to put some stripes (white??) similar to the green and grey cars shown here and swap out for some modern rims similar to what the white one has. I want to at least go to 18's which is what this one says it has. Any ideas or critiques are welcome. Thanks. Looking forward to vet ownership.
Finally got her back from the painter. These arent great pics, but Im a fan of the change. I'll probably get the top done when i have another grand to throw away. Oh and i deleted the antenna with a $3 sink plug from Lowes.
Definitely search for clearance issues with larger wheel. Most require you to move the emergency brake bracket on the trailing arms. Other than that, make it like you want it. I actually like a stripe to make your car different. Maybe a flat black. The only other opinion that will count is your wife, if you are married!.And welcome to the club!
Opinion? It's your car! Do what makes you happy! I'm no purist either. Putting a stripe on it is a personal choice.
Don't worry about anybody's opinion.
Nice looking car by the way!
Badal, the good thing about a stripe is that it's pretty easy to do in vinyl so you could try a number of designs or colors and commit to paint later, if you decide to go that route.
Thanks for the input guys. Yes, I was thinking vinyl so I can take off if I dont like it. There's not just a whole lot of pictures on the web of vets with stripes. Good or bad, the real motivation is to match my orange '68 Camaro with white racing stripes and it was the wifes idea to get a matching car so...
74dkred454 - tried to PM you but thats not an option for some reason. Im in western KY and open to parting with them if you want to discuss.

Looks great without the stripes. If going for stripes, white, black, even a dark brown, or maybe a tan color to match interior.
Wheels? Tough call there, tons to pick from. Good luck.
Are the painted bumper pads an accessory i can buy or just something some people have fabbed? Other than not having chrome bumpers, thats really the only thing I just don't like about this car.
