I was about to order the new half-shafts with u-joints and flanges installed from zip corvette, and was checking around and noticed places like Danny's Driveshaft stating that although theirs is more expensive, they are balanced. This is a stock '75, no racecar or track stuff. Would the regular halfshaft w/flanges from ZIP be sufficient or would it be worth it to go for the one from somewhere like Danny's? In today's world of quality control, it's hard to know anymore. Does anyone have experience?
Do you have the set that came with the car? A decent driveshaft shop can change out the joints in an hour or two. I had mine blasted, painted and joints replaced in under a day, It was a few years ago, but was very reasonably priced. Jerry
On my car I inadvertently twisted the castings. The drive shaft shop said they could be repaired, straightened, heat shrunk, etc. at a cost greater than new shafts with solid spicers and brand new flanges.
I went with new units from Bairs Corvette. Likely where Zip gets them from as I do know they resell a few items from Bairs.
Bairs Corvette sells rebuilt half shafts and new half shafts. Perhaps worth a quick look.
