Hello, I am replacing the blower on my c3 and I broke a vacuum hose while removing g the blower. Can any one tell me what this part is and what it does?

the rubber nub fits on the neck of the cannister.

Hard to see in the pic but if it is connected to a heater hose it is your heater control valve. It lets hot water into your heater core. AND it keeps hot water out of your heater core.

Yes! That's it. It looks like the small hose goes to the firewall. I'll need to replace that.

Yes those nylon vacuum lines to the hot water shut off get brittle and break.
Common problem.
Find some vacuum line that fits snuggly over the existing line. Take a small section with you to the auto parts store.
Then, near where it goes into the firewall cut the line and slide the new rubber line over the old line.
route this around and to the hotwater shut-off. You will be able to slide this replacement rubber line onto the valve without the adapter you show above.
