There is NO sellers fee only a 5% buyers fee. Seller gets the full selling price There is a $99.00 listing fee.
Thanks for the correction. Still, BaT is taking 5% so that needs to be factored in the calculus. If I were a buyer, I’d rather pay, say $50k from a non-commission site than $52500 from BaT.
First and foremost I would definitely start local. Put it on Marketplace, and even Craigslist. Maybe even a local shopper newspaper. My advice is to put a price on it that'll sell ..not one where you end up lowering it 3x over the next 18 months! LOL Unless you want to hang onto it a long time and deal with tire-kickers for months on end. I know guys who've sold their cars in a day or two after listing it. I once bought a Classic car from a Craigslist seller (about 12 yrs ago). It was a nice-looking car, great price, and less than an hour away. I marched right down there and bought it. Turns out the seller had only listed it a couple minutes before I called (out of luck), and then he had a lot of other callers. But I was first and was there with the $$ (most of the other callers had to contact their uncle's buddy and see if they could get the money, or sell their boat, ..you know the drill. Lot of guys (including me) don't want to deal with buying something far away they can't see in person, or easily get home. Esp a C3. But they'll drive a couple hrs for the "right" vehicle. And I don't want to drive hours to look over a car only to find out later I didn't win an auction and wasted my time. If I'm going to drive 3hrs I expect to be able to drive it home.
Plus, pictures don't always tell the full story. The paint jobs and bodywork on cars these days varies from crappy (passed off as 'great') ....to fairly good. I'm getting to where I hardly trust a seller's interpretation of a paint job..I want to see what I'm getting, warts and all. There have been a number of pictures of vehicles I've seen on BAT ...cars I could see plenty of beginner-level paint flaws: major orange-peel in places, or dry-spray, pinholes in bodywork that weren't dealt with, none of which were disclosed. These were on cars and trucks which sold for pretty good coin! Even Gold-level cars at Bloomington this summer -- my brother and I were agast at some of the paint issues ...sags in the clear which guys or shops tried to buff out (but you could see the sags still!), horrible applications of door gasket adhesive. I mean I could make a long list. Pictures don't show birdcage/frame rot (not saying yours has that, but a saavy buyer will want to know). Or cracked bushings or noisy engines, sloppy steering.
You might swing by a local (smaller??) Chevy dealer too, if you have one. A lot of times they'll like to have something nice and different in the showroom to bring in foot-traffic, and sell on consignment. I know our small-town chevy dealer has had a few C3's in there over the yrs. I wouldn't be afraid of ebay either. Just mention it has to be bought/picked up in person, or however you want to deal with it. There are local listings for ebay. Then there's Hemmings. They have a website listing and auctions as well. So you have options.
IDK about AutoTrader. Never had much luck with that one. Stuff would just sit there and never a serious call. That would probably be my last on the list. But maybe others have had better luck. It's been a while since I used them. There are regional auctions too, like Mecom auctions, etc. and maybe an end-of-summer car show/swap meet. Get the ole shoe polish out and put an attractive price on the windshield!
John, I think with your reputation as a valued member on this site ,and the number of people who visit here that can appreciate a great well taken care of car , it would sell pretty fast. And it would go to a good home. Which is sometimes important.
I sold a 68 Camaro on Facebook Marketplace last year and it was pretty painless. Sold in about 3 weeks. Guy from Texas came up with a trailer, gave me cash and off he went. Best of luck with your sale.
John,
I just sold my C6. It was on here and FB Marketplace. I know a lot here don't like FB and you do have quite a few "is it still available" That being said I had 3 serious buyers 1 from here and 2 from FB. A guy from Long island came with cash in hand and a trailer bought it on the spot. I bought another vehicle recently and got it off FB again. It was a great deal and the seller was more than happy to work with me. Serious sellers and buyers will work out. Good luck with the sale.
Thanks Gordon. I've just completed the restoration and need to get some gas in it and fire it up. It has been a few years since it has been started. Then I will get some pictures and post a FS ad here and a few other places including CL.

Easy answer Mark! I am downsizing. I have my 76 which is a keeper. I want to move the 69 and my 24' trailer. Red (the 76) will rest in my one car garage and life will be simple. Easier now with one than the several I had. I absolutely loved restoring the numbers matching 69. I finished up the wiper cover and grill today so my plan - weather permitting - is to get it out of the garage and get some pix. Then post it for sale. Thanks!
