rack and pinion 1976

rack and pinion 1976
Just trade a bike for a 1976. New to corvette, that's my first one. The rack and pinion seem to have a lot of play and its grinding/ making noise under the floor. Is that a commun problem ? Any help will be appreciate.

It's totally not a common problem. As stated above. A 76 Corvette doesn't have a rack and pinion steering system. So that can't make noise.

Best advice? Get this thing up on jackstands and have a look!
Tell us what you actually have under your floor. Take photos and post them on here. Where is this noise coming from? Get under the car while it's on jackstands or a lift and have your partner turn the wheel. Where is the noise coming from?
If you do have rack and pinion steering photos may help determine what kind.

I have the kit in the above link, take a look around the site and see if that is what you have, and post pictures so we know what we are dealing with. Mine started getting loose and it turned out to be a couple bolts but there are a number of other things it could be depending on what you have.. Check the fluid level, it can groan when low.
