Hello and welcome to our forum. Yes that is a picture of the compressor for your air-con. Yes it is possible to upgrade to a more modern and efficient compressor.
However, the compressor is but one component of the system.
As per just bolt something on and just add Freon. Your dreaming. It's far and away more complex than that. Sorry.

Just a wild guess, your air-con isn't working at the moment?
Step one if you know nothing about cars. Take it in to a Automotive air-conditioning service facility. Have them pull a vacuum on your system and test for leaks.
Then go from there. Perhaps all you need is to repair a leak, and have the system charged.
