Hi, The TI ignition is not working, so I'm witching over to points for now. Not sure how I would wire it up, I would appreciate any help, Thanks 69 427/435.
I switched to a Pertronix III Igniter, coil and 7mm wires stuffed inside my braided shields. Plugged into the 12v IGN at the fuse block and left the 9V resistor wire going into the box shield and sealed off. Never had to touch a thing since. The unit has an adjustable rev limiter too.
Could be just a loose ground on the amp. Check all connections. What are the symptoms? Dave Fiedler of TI Specialties has a troubling shooting guide on his website.

We just went through this with a 67 435hp
Replaced the Ti box with a newer puck design
Check wire harness is good
Check all spark plug wires are not broken, we had to replace as it was broken and arching
Replace spark plugs with correct ones
Check the coil is working properly and has right voltage
Final check is the dist cap is working. We replaced it with a GM service replacement
Check fuel bowels are correct
Check timing
That is it

20+ years ago I had the same symptoms on my L78 and if memory serves it was distributor related. I had the distributor rebuilt by TI Specialties. I remember the distributor came back looking like a piece of artwork. Beautiful.
I highly recommend going through their TI troubleshooting guide versus just guessing with parts swapping.
i had the exact same issue when my lectric limited amp box failed- not firing in the crank position. you can disconnect the R wire to the TI harness for a try. when i did that mine would start instantly.
as far as swapping in a points dizzy- you will also need the correct coil.
you can disconnect the TI harness where it connects to red wire at firewall, you need a resisitor there, that goes to your coil (R wire from starter hooks here too) dizzy wire to other side of coil. i think thats it? once you disconnect the TI harness it wont have any power in it you can just let the wires lay there
Verify a good ground at the radiator support for the module. Sounds like the wrong ignition coil (non GM t.i. coil). Mine did the same thing. Wrong coil, tried starting, fired up for a split second, then nothing. Wrong coil bricked my new aftermarket ignition module. Do not use any aftermarket coils, real GM only. The aftermarkets have a high failure rate. You need to ohm your coil and verify it is a t.i. coil, not a point coil.
