Trying to put new mufflers in. I read some of the info but the mufflers look like they're really stuck in there hard, but there's also a piece in The collector piece from the header. How do you remove these items so it's basically two items a side pipe has whatever is in there. I don't know a muffler or something and then the collector piece has a honeycomb shaped thing that when you put the side pipe on the muffler like sits together with the other piece inside the collector pipe
Sounds like a really good explanation.
removing baffles that have been in for awhile can be really fun sometimes. But it sounds like your all over it.
Try a slide hammer with a hook for removal.
If it was easy everyone would be doing it!

I have Hooker side pipes on a 68 and 71. I gave up on both of them. Every once in a while I give to anther go but to no avail. Ive tried heat, cold, twisting, banging etc.
The mufflers can get stuck because of rust or carbon build up.
The trick is to use a chain and a piece of bar or pipe and insert it through the muffler to flop out on the exit end of the muffler. Kind of like a toggle bolt. Then I secured the other end of the chain to a tree so I could slam the muffler pipe like a slide hammer.
Mine took a lot of work.
An extreme idea would be to cut open the outside pipe where it wouldn't be seen, then weld it after you got the muffler out.
