Unkown to most, this was the first attempt to offer a drag shoot to reduce speed of a Vette from 200 down to 120.
Thereby saving wear-n-tear on the brake pads / rotors.
It worked once. Not so much after that.
Rumor is, the design engineer of this concept was also responsible for the easy removal heater core location.
I can only ever remember seeing it done once with a 56-62 hardtop and I haven't seen it done too many times with 68-75's, but years ago before cruises started replacing big Corvette shows (especially indoor shows) there were always a couple midyear convertibles displayed that way. Of course they were usually being supported by a broom stick, or something similar that was no where near as elegant as the supports on those two cars.
Took me a few mins to process this. Since I don’t have the hardtop for my 75 vert, I was trying to figure out how that would work with the soft top frame being bolted to the body. Then it dawned on me.
Damn, I’m getting old and slow!
I believe I spotted @Rescue Rogers Hot Wheels car displayed this way a few weeks back in a thread from a car show. That was the first time I recall seeing the top and deck lid up together.

Did that one time on my 67, a few days later a crack showed up in the upper corner of
the window opening. Not for me. On my 69 I have convertible pins so I don’t ever have to
lift it up again it works fine.
