Default Smoothline Top help

I got a 69 convertible a month ago and it came with what I've come to find out is a Smoothline hardtop.

I'm aware the company had gone out of business so I'm out of luck there but what I was hoping is that someone has some info on what type of hardware is needed for the front.

The top has spikes that go in to the convertible latches on the back but the front of the top only has holes were some type of hardware goes. I found a picture online (probably from this forum) that shows some pins in the corners but it's low res and I can't make it out.

Any help or ideas anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Jeff

I’d be curious to see a pic of your top. Mine (71) came with a vinyl wrapped hard top, and I’ve seen smooth, body colored tops. Just wondering if yours is maybe styled differently.

Maybe try posting on some other vintage / classic car Forums. Hopefully Smoothline made hard hard tops for other brand cars. My thought is that the latches would have to fit the receivers on your Corvette, so the question is, why wouldn’t Smoothline just use parts already made by Chevrolet?

I'll post some pics tonight. It's a vinyl wrapped top like you're describing.

There are two holes where the guide pins would go for the location of the pins on the convertible top. Then in the middle is a slotted hole going side to side that is covered with the headliner material. It's lined with a glued on material so I can see any detail of where some latches would go and I don't really see any areas that feel like you could mount latches to.

I'll get some detailed pics of that part.

Do you have one currently that you could post pics?

Thanks.

That's what I would have thought too but I'm not seeing anything the clearly shows where I would mount the latches.

Here's a few pics of that center area and latch on mine. Hope this helps! Just got this car home, so I have not taken the top of yet. Getting it and the house buttoned up for the pending hurricane. 😯
