The AIM describes this part as "switch" but I can't find it anywhere else. It is attached to the back of the Tach housing. Does anyone know what it is a switch for?
it is used in the wiper vacuum circuitry. It is generally called a solenoid and you can see it in the attached pdf file sitting below the Wiper Override Switch.
The file is actually for a 69, but the basic vacuum system stayed pretty much the same from 68-72.

Thank you. That makes sense and since I'm converting to electric headlights and wiper door it isn't something I need to worry about.
